Good evening BPS Family. This is Mrs. Redding. First, please let me wish all of the mothers a very Happy Mother’s Day. I pray you had a wonderful day celebrating with your children.
I understand the numerous emotions we all have experienced since our weapon discovery on our campus last Friday. I am deeply thankful the situation was arrested immediately by staff members and that we did not become another statistic on the National News as so many other schools have in the United States. In lieu of these events, BPS will have additional measures in place at 7:00am on Monday morning to strengthen security for all our students, faculty, and staff. They include:
1. Parents, you are our first line of defense. Please check your child’s bookbag each morning before he/she leaves home. If you find any item that should not be coming to school, please take it out.
2. All students and adults who come in the front door will walk through the metal detector. All pockets will be emptied, and bags searched by employees for any illegal items.
3. All students entering the school from the bus area will have to go through a wand check and have their bookbags searched by an employee.
4. When the students leave the breakfast area, all students will have their bags checked again before entering their classrooms by their teacher and/or Teacher Assistant.
5. Should anything be found, it will be immediately seized by our SRO Officer and the police will be notified.
We are confident these measures will strengthen efforts to keep weapons from entering our building. Thank you for your efforts in assisting us as our greatest priority is the safety of your child.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
On Wednesday, June 1st, and Thursday, June 2nd, students will be dismissed at 11:00. We will begin loading cars and buses at 11:00.
Field Day will be held on May 24th for K and 1st, and on May 25th for 2nd and 3rd. Please purchase your child a Field Day T-shirt for $10. The order form was sent by your child’s teacher last Friday. Each class has a specific color to wear. The school logo will be stamped in white with Field Day 2022 on it. Parents will be able to attend. We will hold it out on the back lawn. We will have snacks, popcorn, drinks and hotdogs. Come join us for a great day of excitement.
